Gary and I Lorraine will be running/ walking the Great South Run with some of our friends and family on the 16th October for our charity Portsmouth Bowel Cancer Appeal charity in memory of Dame Deborah James, I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in 2014, Thanks to my wonderful surgeon Professor Jim Khan from the Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth I am still here today.
Being told you have Cancer is frightening not knowing if you will survive, having a surgeon like professor Jim Khan, who was so supportive and reassuring made me feel better about what was going to be a difficult time in my life.
After my surgery I started fund raising and volunteering for the Rocky Appeal raising just over £30,000. When the Rocky appeal reached its target Professor Khan ask me and other patients to help set up another charity named Portsmouth Bowel Cancer Appeal we launched the charity in March 2020 which was a difficult time with shut down about to happen. Now that all that is out of the way we hope to start raising lots of money to help save life’s with new equipment, research and training. Please give what you can thank you xx
